Start right up

If there's a program you run every time you turn on your computer, add it to the Startup folder. The program will load while your computer boots up and be open and ready to use once startup is complete.

  1. Access the Windows Start menu by hitting the Windows key or clicking on the Start button.
  2. Highlight Programs.
  3. Right-click on the program you’d like to add to your machine’s Startup folder.
  4. Choose Create Shortcut.
  5. Drag the newly created shortcut, which should have appeared near the original program followed by (2), into the Startup folder, also located under Programs.
