Don’t leave your PowerPoint in the ignition

Make room next to your car key for your listing presentation. Computer-storage devices about the size of a Swiss Army knife can hold an impressive amount of data–enough to carry presentations, file backups, photos, music, and other important data with you at all times. The drives are so small that many are designed to attach to your keychain.

These storage devices plug directly into the USB port of a computer, don’t require external power or cables, have no moving parts, and are instantly recognized on most recent Windows operating systems. Depending on your needs and budget, you can get drives that hold anywhere from 8MB to more than 2GB.

Two features to consider in addition to storage capacity are data-transfer speeds and security. Some "keychain drives" protect stored data behind a password; one model even incorporates biometric security with a thumbprint validation.

A few of the popular brands of USB storage drives are ThumbDrive, DiskOnKey, and EasyDisk.
