| The Texas Association of REALTORS® 2004 Winter Meeting concluded after five days of meetings, education sessions, and networking. Meeting attendees found plenty of worthwhile activities at the Hyatt to occupy their time. Here are some of the highlights:
- Attorney General Greg Abbott (pictured at left) addressed the TREPAC Investors Breakfast and Awards and spoke of the role of REALTORS® in their communities and his office’s initiatives to improve those communities.
- At the Governmental Affairs Forum, state Rep. Kent Grusendorf, chairman of the House Public School Finance Committee, discussed how to finance public education in Texas, while Harvey Kronberg, editor and publisher of the Quorum Report, talked about the current political climate in the Texas Legislature.
- The Texas Association of REALTORS® Executive Board approved the formation of a professional-development task force to coordinate with the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University in the creation of a three-hour commercial code of ethics MCE course.
- The Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program was unveiled at the Board of Directors Meeting. This is a turnkey program developed by TAR that local associations can use to help their members develop leadership skills.
- The Texas Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors elected the following officers for 2005: Chairman Lance Lacy, Chairman-elect Dennis Patillo, and Secretary/Treasurer Avis Wukasch.
- The Winter Meeting also saw the inaugural convening of the TAR Property Management Committee and the TAR Housing Initiatives Committee.
