Good houses should be seen, not heard

Silence, as they say, is golden. In fact, homebuyers are more willing then ever to pay extra for construction materials and methods that reduce the noise from outside or within a home. And the market for white-noise machines, indoor fountains, and other ruckus-masking devices continues to flourish. Appliance manufacturers have picked up on this trend, too, introducing refrigerators and dishwashers that don’t whistle while they work.

Next time you market a property with more insulation, thicker walls, quieter floors, or new quiet appliances, don’t forget to tout the sound of silence.
