Leave no one behind

The events from last September illustrated the need for building-evacuation plans in the event of an emergency. Easter Seals has teamed with the Building Owners and Managers Association to create a program designed to address the evacuation needs of people with disabilities. The s.a.f.e.t.y. first program is conducting pilot programs in eight cities to determine the best evacuation procedures. In the interim, Easter Seals suggests that building managers start preparing an evacuation plan now and work directly with employees who have disabilities and special needs to develop a personal evacuation plan.
