Want to know more about your competitors? Results from a 2001 NAR survey give some insights. Almost 93% of full-time commercial brokerages (firms that derive 50%-100% of their business from commercial real estate) have fewer than five agents. Nearly seven in 10 commercial firms have been around more than 10 years, while 39% claim more than 20 years in business. Just over half of commercial firms are corporations, with 42% operating as a proprietorship. Most brokerages reported having a single office that serves a local market. Illustration © Digital Vision.
