Palm tips

Stay calibrated

You did it the first day you turned on your PDA, but probably haven’t thought about it since. During your initial welcome tour of your Palm-type device, the PDA displayed several targets on the screen and asked you to tap on their centers with the stylus. This exercise, called digitizing, allows the handheld to adjust its screen sensors to the angle and force of your stylus and should be repeated every month to ensure proper screen calibration.

From the main screen, select the Welcome icon. Follow the on-screen instructions, which will lead you through the digitizing and setup process. When you reach the "Setup complete" screen, tap Done to return to the main menu.

Protecting your Palm

Did you know that a small piece of transparent tape can prolong the life of your handheld computer? Most Palm screen use occurs in the narrow band of the Graffiti area. Over time, this use causes scratches and broken sensors on even the best-maintained devices. But covering this part of the screen with tape protects the sensors from scratches and abuse, and when the tape begins to fray, you can replace it with another piece. Be sure to use removable transparent tape, because normal tape is difficult to remove and may cause damage to the screen.
