If you knew which station in your neighborhood sold the cheapest gas, would you fill up anywhere else? Instead of driving around town comparison shopping—and wasting gas—visit GasBuddy.com to find out if you can do better than the $1.60 a gallon at your usual station.
GasBuddy.com operates gas-price pages for the 50 states and major metropolitan areas within each. For Texas, GasBuddy.com lists sites for Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio as well as a statewide page. Each page lists the most expensive and least expensive stations in that area and offers a multi-variable search function. For example, on the Dallas page you can search for prices in Frisco posted within 12 hours. Or on the Austin page, you can find the prices at all Conoco stations in North Austin.
Founded in 2000 as a nonprofit organization, GasBuddy.com is a free service that relies on consumers to post data. Each price represents the cost of one gallon of regular unleaded and is deleted after 72 hours, ensuring current information.
Another way to save money on gasoline is through a member benefit of the Texas Association of REALTORS®. You’re eligible to apply for a special Valero/Diamond Shamrock discount gas card, good at more than 4,100 stations nationwide. Call 713/812-3054 for details.
