Texas Association of REALTORS® wins two awards

Texas REALTOR® magazine took home top honors in the periodicals category of the International Association of Business Communicator’s "Best of Austin" competition in May. This marks the second time in three years that Texas REALTOR® has received this award in a category that includes other top-notch statewide publications.

The association’s consumer Web site also was recently recognized. TexasRealEstate.com was honored as the best public site in the second annual Outstanding REALTOR® Association Web Site Contest, sponsored by REALTOR® Association Executive magazine. The judges praised the site’s ability to market to consumers and present a great variety of useful information without over-hyping REALTORS®.

"Having a Web site that’s geared to the consumer gives us credibility when it comes to issues that affect many Texas property owners, such as our current homeowners insurance reform campaign," said John Gormley, TAR director of communications and marketing.

Two local boards in Texas also received awards. The Austin board earned top honors for its well-designed member site, ABOR.com. The judges said the site reflects well on Austin REALTORS® and offers great online features for members, such as paying dues and registering for classes.

Also, the Houston association was recognized in the consumer/member-site category for HAR.com. The judges praised the site’s functionality, Spanish-language section, and commercial area.
