Your health
How healthy is your heart?

An online calculator cannot take the place of diagnostic tests and a doctor’s expertise, but the American Heart Association does provide a risk-assessment tool to help you gauge your chances of suffering a heart attack or dying from coronary heart disease in the next 10 years. The calculator, located in the Health Tools section of AmericanHeart.org, asks for your gender, age, cholesterol and blood-pressure readings. Your result is based on information from the government’s Framingham Heart Study, a research project that has followed more than 5,000 adults since 1948.

Also on the site, you’ll find a wealth of information about heart health, heart-attack warning signs, and information about strokes.
