Back to the future

Commercial real estate is going retro, heading way back to the 20th century. There is a shift in many regions away from the large corporate interests that dominated commercial markets for much of the 1990s and toward more local owners and lenders, who controlled things in the ’70s and ’80s. A report by Inman News Service predicts this trend will continue as developers realize that area knowledge and real estate experience trump financial acumen in a property transaction.
