If these walls could walk

When a company experiences a work force shakeup, reorganization, merger, or other organizational changes, its work-space needs often change, too. Rearranging the floor plan can mean tearing down existing walls and building new ones, displacing workers in the process. However, moveable walls can lessen disruptions while retaining flexibility for the future.

While moveable walls cost more than drywall–as much as 30-60%–they may be a more cost-effective choice over the long haul. An article in Buildings Interiors magazine suggests that tax advantages coupled with quicker installation and cost savings during future changes will lead to savings.

Moveable walls are treated the same as office furniture for tax purposes, so they can be depreciated much more rapidly than permanently affixed walls.
