View the Web without connections

Did you know you don’t have to be connected to the Internet to view a Web site? It’s called working offline, and you can use this tool to keep a phone line free, browse while away from a connection, or show off your site or others to prospects and clients without the need for an Internet connection.

Using Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, you simply save a site as one of your favorites. Then, click the Organize Favorites command, select that site, and check the box next to Make available offline. Next, click the Properties button to customize when you want the site downloaded to your hard drive. You can set this to happen automatically on a schedule or only when you manually synchronize. You can also select how many pages to follow from a link (two is a good choice so as not to create an unwieldy download). When you want to view a site offline, go to the File selection on the menu bar and select Work offline. Then, click the Web site you want to view. Note: For ColdFusion and other database-driven sites, you will have to actually click on all pages you want to download before you commence the download.
