MCE credit on the River Walk.

by George Stephens   What if I told you you could go to Sea World in San Antonio and get MCE credit while you’re there?

Perhaps I should clarify that a bit. You don’t actually get MCE credit at the theme park. Even though some of the shows where the animals are swimming all over the place and jumping through hoops remind me of a few real estate transactions I’ve been involved in, I don’t think they will make the real estate commission’s approved list.

So here’s the deal. Come to San Antonio Sept. 5-9. Bring the family, if you like. Stay on the River Walk. Eat some delicious Mexican food. Go to Sea World or Fiesta Texas or play golf on some fabulous courses. Take in the many cultural attractions for which San Antonio is so famous. Visit the Alamo and the other Spanish missions, or go on a mission of your own to find the perfect margarita. But block out some time in your schedule for education sessions, too. (That’s the MCE part.) Heck, you may even be able to write off some of the trip–though you’ll probably want to check that out with your accountant first.

You may have noticed in previous issues of the magazine an ad with me standing on the side of the road, holding a sombrero while hitchhiking my way to San Antonio for the Texas REALTORS® convention. I can assure you I did not pose for these advertisements because I’ve always dreamed of being a Mexican-hat model. Why then? I wanted to get your attention. I wanted to let all members who have never been to a Texas REALTORS® Convention know about the opportunity to have loads of fun while you also take care of some business, too.

Getting a bunch of hours of required education credits in only a day or two might be incentive enough for some. But you get more than just the MCE you need. These education programs are taught by nationally renowned experts who will energize and motivate you to improve your business. There’s also a trade show where you can peruse the products and services from a variety of vendors. And several parties and gatherings provide you the opportunity to meet REALTORS® from across the state. It’s a great way to compare notes, learn a few things, and create relationships that can benefit you in your profession.

I won’t actually be hitchhiking to the Texas REALTORS® Convention. But believe me, I wouldn’t miss it. I hope I’ll see you there.
