How do you say help in Spanish?

You knew that TAR offered Spanish translations of forms and contracts (if you didn’t know, check out the Forms section of TexasRealtors.com or call 800/873-9155 for more info), but do you know how to get your hands on translations of other important real estate information? Here’s a list of some helpful resources:

  • Why Title Insurance and House of Cards. Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: American Land Title Association, 1828 L Street, N.W., Suite 705, Washington, D.C. 20036. Specify that you want the Spanish version.
  • Ten brochures, including 100 Questions About Homebuying, Buying Your Home...Settlement Costs Booklet, and more, are available from HUD’s Web site at www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/es_menu.cfm.
  • Fannie Mae publishes guides to homebuying and mortgages in nine languages. The free PDF versions are available on HomeBuyingGuide.org.
  • Need to translate a Web page into Spanish (or seven other) languages? Point your Web browser to http://babelfish.altavista.com, enter the URL for a Web page, select the language you want to read, and click the translate button. Careful, though—the translations here are sometimes a little less than smooth. You can also translate up to 150 words of your choosing from this page.
