Texas-Louisiana REALTOR® Convention Highlights

August 16-20, 2000 • New Orleans, Louisiana

Nearly 1,000 REALTORS® from Texas and Louisiana met in New Orleans Aug. 16-20 for the 2000 Texas/Louisiana REALTORS® Convention and MarketPlace. The convention was filled with business meetings, education and networking opportunities, and plenty of fun!

Some of the highlights of the meeting:

• Officers for 2001 were installed: John Eckstrum, chairman of the board; Mary Frances Burleson, chairman-elect; George Stephens, secretary/treasurer.

• The board of directors voted to fund the ZipForm real estate forms software and support package from REFormsNet for all Texas REALTORS® by approving a $10 dues increase for 2001.

• The executive board approved a motion to oppose any legislation that creates a mandatory real estate sales price disclosure in Texas.

• The board of directors announced that the Issues Mobilization Fund will be funded from association reserves rather than by an assessment. The Legal Fund is adequately funded and also will not require an assessment.
