Remember San Antonio

2003 Texas REALTORS® Convention and Trade Expo highlights

For five days in September, 1,165 Texas REALTORS® made San Antonio the center of the Texas real estate universe. They earned MCE, caught up on legal issues, strolled the River Walk with old friends, and established new contacts. TAR thanks you for making the 2003 Texas REALTORS® Convention and Trade Expo a rousing success.

If you didn’t make it to September’s big event in the Alamo City, here’s a brief look at what you missed:

  • At the installation gala, Dave Dalzell was sworn in as the 2004 TAR chairman of the board by NAR President-elect Walt McDonald. Lance Lacy and Dennis Patillo also were installed as TAR’s chairman-elect and secretary/treasurer, respectively.
  • Buckner Fanning provided an uplifting message while the kids from Show Stoppers Academy Musical Theater entertained the crowd at the inspiration breakfast.
  • The Trade Expo General Assembly began with the solemn march of a color guard from Fort Sam Houston and a thought-provoking keynote address from Dan Clark.
  • Mary Jo Berryman of Fort Worth was presented with the prestigious NAR Distinguished Service Award at the board of directors meeting.
  • The board of directors approved a one-time $5 dues assessment for 2004 to bolster the issues mobilization political action committee fund. The assessment is necessary to adequately fund the issues mobilization political action committee fund for local and state issues that affect private-property owners’ rights and the Texas real estate industry. These funds will assist in meeting the strategic goals of the committee and assist in being adequately prepared to address issues, such as a tax on services, when they arise.
