Do-not-fax rules postponed |

![]() |
Thanks to the lobbying efforts of NAR and other associations, the Federal Communications Commission issued a stay of new regulations covering fax advertisements until Jan. 1, 2005. The proposed fax rules, which would prohibit faxing anything soliciting the sale of a product or service (including material mixed in with the fax, such as the cover sheet) to any fax number without written consent, would have gone into effect Aug. 25. This postponement does not impact the Texas e-mail rule that requires ADV: to appear as the first four characters of the subject line of any unsolicited, commercial e-mail. Photo © Digital Vision.
