Keep it clean

Electronics have a love-hate relationship with dust. They attract the minuscule particles but their presence causes problems, some of which lead to costly repairs and replacements. Here are a few things to keep in mind when cleaning your high-tech gadgets:

  • It may be worth looking at the owner’s manual if you still have it. Some electronics don’t get along with conventional cleaning agents or methods.
  • A can of compressed air works well to get dust and dirt out of many hard-to-reach areas.
  • Wet cleaning agents should be kept away from electronic components.
  • For some items, opening the case may void your warranty. It’s best to check first.
  • Paper towels and tissues could scratch lenses, monitors, and other glass surfaces.
  • Don’t spray cleaning fluids onto monitors, lenses, etc. Instead, spray them onto a cleaning cloth, then wipe the surface.
