Take a peek inside buyers’ and sellers’ minds

Knowing more about attitudes and motivations of homebuyers and sellers can help you fine tune your business practices. This year for the first time, TAR joined in NAR’s biannual survey of homebuyers and sellers to get information about Texas consumers. A few highlights from the report:

  • The median home search lasted seven weeks, although 18% of respondents spent more than 20 weeks looking for a new home.
  • Real estate agents were the top information source used in a home search, with the Internet a distant second.
  • One-third of respondents chose an agent who was referred by a friend or relative.
  • Of homeseekers with Web access, 61% claimed the Internet shortened their search time.
  • Just under 50% of sellers would use the same listing agent for their next home sale. (33% indicated that they now live too far away to use the same agent again.)
