How to …
Add maps to your Web site–for free

Increase the utility of your Web site by adding maps to your listings. Online services like Yahoo and MapQuest offer free links to their mapping functions, which enable users to view maps of where a listing or your office is and download and print them as well.

Yahoo provides a very easy way to link your site to their maps. Go to http://maps.yahoo.com, type in the address of the place you want to locate on a map, and click Get Map. Select Create a link to this map, which is directly underneath the map you just generated. Yahoo creates two sets of HTML that you can paste in the desired location on your Web site: one set links to a Yahoo map of the address, the other provides driving directions to the address.

If you’d rather create your own HTML, Yahoo provides sample URLs with address, city, and state fields that you can fill in with your listing’s information at http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/maps/maps-26.html.

MapQuest also provides URLs that you can change, per their instructions, to create maps on their Web site. Visit www.mapquest.com/solutions/product.adp?page=linkfree for more information; the page includes an e-mail address for any questions or specific problems you have setting up their links on your site.
