So you're thinking of hiring an assistant...

Decide if you want a licensed or unlicensed assistant.

  • A licensed assistant usually gives the agent more flexibility.
  • An unlicensed assistant is limited to clerical work, for the most part.

Figure out how you will compensate your assistants.

  • Salary? Hourly? Perks? Bonuses? Also, be sure to work out hours and job responsibilities. Decide where the assistant will work.

Hire someone who is trustworthy.

Look for someone who is dependable, has a friendly personality, excellent phone skills, and computer knowledge. Give consideration to someone willing to pursue a career in real estate.

Be willing to take time to train the person you hire.
